The idea
Coffee Buddies started as an idea to make friends in a casual fashion around you. Coffee places were the right fit to make this app work.
The problem
In cosmopolitan cities like London, making friends and even keeping up with everyone's busy schedules can be difficult. Most of the times when you have time, your friends are busy and viceversa. But what about those spontaneous moments of time where you would like to go for a quick chat with someone, and even make new friends?
The solution
Coffee Buddies came to the rescue. Make friends in a safe environment and with the comfort of your time flexibility.
This is an app for people to make friends easily in real time and spontaneously.
The app will prompt users to the closest coffee shop when there is a match.
The MVP
The challenge was to make this app so simple that it would do most things for you. How could we make the ultimate MVP and still have a really nice and functional social app?
No chat (no fluff, just meet)
In meeting apps people usually stay chatting for a long time without meeting in the end. Coffee Buddies solves that.
Sync your profile with Instagram
Instead of having to set up a complex profile and upload photos and information, the app syncs with your Instagram. This is an effective way to get a sense of a user's personality as Instagram profiles are generally curated in a more sensible fashion.
Minimal personalisation. Add a quote
You can add a quote to give a flavour to your profile without the need of a dropdown feature.
No saved matches
Matching happens in real time and by proximity within a time window. If you match with someone the app will lock you and prompt you to meet, so there is value on every swipe.
